Lakotas Dedication to Innovation
Lakotas team is comprised of people with decades of experience in the towable manufacturing industry. Many of their innovations originated in other segments of the towable recreational vehicle market, which requires the same precision and creativity to balance function with comfort.
We have taken these values and built an all-aluminum horse trailer that is targeted to how the horse and owner really use the trailer. In the coming years you can expect to see innovative standards and optional features that you do not typically see in the horse trailer industry.
Why? Common sense features that make your horse lifestyle more convenient are what Lakota strives to achieve. We have the quality suppliers and competencies to achieve more than most other horse trailer manufacturers.
Lakota offers more Essential Standards, rather than expensive options, at a more affordable packaged price. Apples to apples, you will find Lakota to be the best in quality and value compared to the competition.
Lakotas top quality aluminum horse trailers carry a 7-Year Structural Warranty, as well as a 1-Year Material Warranty.
One of Lakotas many standard trailer features are its sidewalls constructed of tubular aluminum - versus the C-Channel construction that many other manufacturers are using. This makes Lakota 33% stronger than the horse industry standard.
Lakota pays attention to detail, application and durability that is refreshing to the seasoned horse owner.
All Aluminum Built Strong
Confidence as strong as the aluminum components used to build each Lakota Trailer.
Frame: Lakota's chassis is built with 4" X 2.66" 6061-T6 structural aluminum I-beams on maximum 16" centers welded to industry leading 4.312" X 2" side rails ... all before adding an outer extruded van-rail, making for stronger construction than most trailers on the market.
Floor: The interlocking tongue and groove extruded aluminum floor planking has 1/8" walls and solid 3/8" thick risers making it 20% thicker than the industry standard.
Sidewalls: The sidewalls are constructed of tubular aluminum versus the C-Channel construction that many other manufacturers use, making it 33% stronger than the industry standard. The walls have 1½" thick foam insulation, giving them an increased r-value 33% greater than that of our competitors.
Doors: Lakota's rear and feeder doors use industry leading 3/8" thick extruded aluminum for the strap hinges and have an exclusive integrated door frame making them the strongest doors in the industry.
Roof: The roof is constructed of extruded aluminum roof rails with .150" wall thickness and welded to a 1½" X 2½" X .125" aluminum sidewall header. The roof is supported using 1" X 2½" roof bows.
Types of Trailers
Bumper Pull
The bumper pull is an economical option for hauling up to three horses. This trailer is the best option when you do not have the open bed hitch capabilities for a gooseneck trailer; or if you want to leave the bed for other storage. Available in both straight and slant load options, you can make your selection based on the ideal load preference of your horses. The nose of some models may also include a dressing room that can be used for supply storage.
Gooseneck
If you desire maximum towing stability and ease of maneuverability when turning or parking, the gooseneck trailer is for you. Goosenecks also have the capacity to provide sleeping and storage space in the nose area. You can have this nose area converted into living quarters which include bedding, full kitchen, and bath facilities. You can haul up to ten horses and have up to a twelve foot short wall that provides maximum living space in the nose area. Goosenecks also increase the weight load you can safely pull without possibly having to upgrade your current truck, which can also extend the life of your tow vehicle. To pull a gooseneck you must have an open bed truck with a special truck-bed hitching system.
Always check your vehicles towing capacity before making a final decision on the right horse trailer for you.
Straight Load
For horses accustomed to being hauled facing forward, this is a more economical option. Typically available for two horses, today fewer of this type unit is purchased except for use when traveling shorter distances and for horses that are not prone to panic due to feeling entrapped. Straight load trailers tend to be typically preferred by more experienced horses that are comfortable with balance and are accustomed to the forward-back motion of the straight load configuration. Tack areas are generally in the front area for extra storage.
Slant Load
Slant loads are more often the preferred choice because horses more easily balance when standing diagonally. The longer the trailer, the more horses that can be hauled. The rear of the trailer includes a tack area in addition to the front nose storage or living quarters. Side escape doors help with ease of unloading and swinging dividers are removable for easy cleaning. Horse Capacity
Horse trailers are built with the capacity to haul two to ten or more horses. Depending on the heavy-duty capacity of your tow vehicle and the number of horses you plan to travel with on your own or with friends, you should consider longer term needs when making your purchase. An aluminum trailer will last many years in meeting your hauling needs and will better hold its resale value should your future needs change.
Every horse lifestyle has specific areas that focus on convenience, comfort and safety of owners and horses. Lakota has taken the time to understand the demands and details of the equestrian lifestyle to determine standard equipment that equals success for you and your equine partner.
Lakotas superior quality all-aluminum horse trailers are an outstanding value. Durability and dependability are built-in to give you a terrific feeling of confidence on and off the road and a safe, secure ride for your best friend.
